Metric Super-Thin Deep Groove Ball Bearings
Extra-thin metric bearings that reduce radial installation space while providing smooth, low-friction operation.
Bore range: 10-30 mm
Design: Extra-thin deep groove
Metric Super-Thin Deep Groove Ball Bearings Overview
Metric super-thin deep groove ball bearings are single-row radial bearings with a reduced radial cross-section. They are designed for mechanisms that require compact outside dimensions, low friction, quiet running and reliable rotational accuracy without changing to an inch-dimensional thin-section series.
The product range covers bore diameters from 10 mm to 30 mm, outer diameters from 15 mm to 47 mm and widths from 3 mm to 10 mm. Available designations include the 67, 68, 638 and 69 series, with open, shielded, sealed and flanged variants offered for selected sizes.
Key Features
- Extra-thin radial cross-section reduces the required housing diameter and overall mechanism envelope.
- Deep raceway geometry for radial loads and moderate axial loads in either direction.
- Low friction torque, supporting smooth starting and high-speed operation.
- Open, shielded and sealed configurations for different contamination and lubrication conditions.
- Optional flanged outer ring for easier axial positioning and housing retention.
- Metric 67, 68, 638 and 69 series provide several cross-section and load-capacity choices.
- W, J, TW and RJ retainer types are available according to bearing size and material.
- Selected sizes are available in stainless steel with suffix H, subject to confirmation.
Design Variants

Open, shielded and sealed super-thin bearing designs
Open bearings: Lowest drag and easy relubrication where the operating environment is clean.
Shielded bearings: Metal shields help retain lubricant and reduce entry of larger contaminants with minimal effect on speed.
Sealed bearings: Contact or low-friction seals provide improved protection for contaminated or maintenance-free applications.
Flanged bearings: An integral outer-ring flange simplifies axial location and can reduce housing machining requirements.

Applications & Selection
Typical Applications
- Slim electric motors, fans, blowers and compact drive units
- Encoders, precision instruments and measuring equipment
- Optical mechanisms, imaging devices and inspection equipment
- Medical, laboratory and dental equipment
- Robotics, automation modules and compact transmission systems
- Office equipment, appliances and space-limited electromechanical assemblies
Selection Notes
- Confirm that the reduced radial cross-section provides sufficient load capacity and stiffness for the application.
- Select internal clearance and precision grade according to shaft fit, housing fit, speed, temperature and running-accuracy requirements.
- Use shielded or sealed variants when lubricant retention and contamination protection are required; verify the resulting speed capability.
- Choose a flanged outer ring where simplified axial location or reduced housing machining is beneficial.
- Confirm lubricant type, operating temperature, vibration/noise grade and starting torque for precision mechanisms.
- For interchangeable selection, verify dimensions and technical performance rather than relying only on competitor cross-reference tables.
